Bored/Irritated Thread

Some of the most interesting pieces of Luther's life come to us from a collection of stories that his students collected that they called Table Talk. In the collection, we find Luther talking about his views on theology, marriage, the pope and just about everything else in his life. Please take this chance to express your views about life, but please, try to keep the Luther-like vulgarity to a minimum.

Meetings. Hate 'em. I particularly hate meetings that do not close with refreshments.

This is why I love my church, their unoffical slogan is "we meet, we eat"

Today is the day that Laurie & I pass out food at the thrift shop, and once again, the people who deliver it are running late. I just don't understand people who are always late, very irritating...

I hate late as well. I have a meeting at 2 on Tuesday, and if the other person is late (again), I'm leaving. The last time I waited for 45 minutes.

Last night's snowstorm was predicted to start at Midnight. At 7:30 this morning we hadn't gotten hardly a flake. We went ahead with the pancake breakfast youth fundraiser at the church next to the parsonage, serving at 8:00 with only four kids and three parents there. At 8:00 the Chairman and a Deacon from the other church talked about cancelling the 9:00 service and decided it wasn't that bad yet. At 8:30 I headed out to the other church 13 miles away for the 9:00 service there. I got two miles down the road and couldn't see the shoulder while driving only 30mph because it was snowing so heavily and the wind was whipping it around so visibility was less than 100 yards. So I turned around and headed back. That meant we cancelled the service only 20 minutes before it was supposed to start. The phone over at that church is in a back room where nobody can hear it ring. There is also zero cell service over there. That meant I couldn't contact anyone who was already at the church to let them know I wasn't coming. I finally got a hold of a member who lives about a quarter mile away and he said he'd go up there and let them know. I'll probably hear about this one this week.

Hey---if they're so far out in Boof that no communication is possible, then they have to accept that sometimes things just cannot go their way. I hope they understand.

I'm irritated that I dropped and cracked one of my Lutheran Chick mugs. It's still usable if you can ignore that noxious bacteria might be accumulating in the crack. Bacteria loves cracks.

It could become a pencil cup if it starts walking.

Probably for another thread but . . . I love the Lutheran Chick line of merchandise. I've got a bunch of stuff and people always comment when they see it. And I have never loved a mug better than the Lutheran Chick mug.

I like the jokey t-shirts, especially the punny ones. My favorite is the one that uses elements from the periodic table to spell out "Lu-Th-Er".

I cannot believe the price of stuff. I spent almost $120 at the grocery store yesterday. Usually when I spend that much, it's because I've gotten some DVDs or a knitting magazine. Not yesterday. The big ticket items were paper towels and TP. Milk is $3.29. I can get it cheaper elsewhere, but then there's a gasoline issue. Not worth the trip. I'm a single gal who does not live high or even buy beef. No way should I be spending $120 for weekly groceries.
