Pentecost 10 ~ Proper 13 C

The following is not one of my better ones. The Gospel reading was one that there is a bit of irony when you say, "This is the Gospel of the Lord" afterward, because it is such a heavy Law text. In this one, I THINK in this sermon, the Law was proclaimed in a way that did indeed accuse the hearers (of course, it is not me who works, but the Spirit and the Spirit will work whne and where he wills.) However, I struggled to bring appropriate Gospel into the sermon and don't think the Gospel predominated in this one. Nonetheless, here it is . . .

I think it is quite good and helpful. (and really EARLY!) you are way too organized -- make some of us look bad

Seriously -- fine sermon.

I think it's pretty good. I think it's a good presentation of Law that is definitely appropriate for a majority of Americans. Too often, sermons blunt the teeth of the law, to the detriment of every hearer. This seems a nice balance of Law and Gospel.
