It seems that with the exception of a couple of verses of Ps. 91, the texts for ELCA & LCMS are the same this week:

1st Lesson: Deuteronomy 26: 1-11
2nd lesson Romans 10: 8b-13
Gospel: Luke 4: 1-13

Lent 1 C 2007

Mr. Smith was an older gentleman ,
whose hearing wasn’t so good anymore.
It was time for his regular check – up.
The dr. told him he had a heart murmur
& should be careful.
Imagine the dr.s surprise the next weekend
to see the old gentlemen out on the town,
whooping it up.
The dr. got Mr. Smiths’ attention
& took him aside:
Don’t you remember what I told you the other day?
“Oh, I surely do, Mr. Smith replied,
“best dang advice I ever had.
I did just as you said. I got me a hot mama
& I’m cheerful!â€
