Old Lutheran Rumors

Some of the most interesting pieces of Luther's life come to us from a collection of stories that his students collected that they called Table Talk. In the collection, we find Luther talking about his views on theology, marriage, the pope and just about everything else in his life. Please take this chance to express your views about life, but please, try to keep the Luther-like vulgarity to a minimum.

ValS getts bragging rights. The first Reformation Kit of 2007 was purchased by she! Or would that be by her?

Object of the preposition="her"

Wow. Really? I've made history! It's about time.

That mask is creeping me out. I can't wait to get it and creep out the kids.

Is the Reformation Kit the same as the grab-bag "party kit?" (which I think looks quite fun, by the way!!) I couldn't find the specific Reformation Kit on the website. Was I looking in the wrong place?

This is not a rumor. This is the truth. When you buy something and have it shipped from Old Lutheran, not only will you receive the highest quality merchandise available, you will also have the privilege of observing some of the finest box-packing artistry you will ever see in your life. The things needing protection are adequately protected but not ridiculously so. There is not a wasted bit of space in the box. Lutheran frugality at its best. One can only shake one's head in wonder. Think I'm lying? Only one way to find out. Go buy something. If you order $75 or more, you get free shipping. And at Old Lutheran, free shipping does not mean "Wait six weeks and maybe we'll send it if we feel like it." No, no, no. I got my order in four days.

I made somebody happy today. I gave her a Sin Boldly Beer Glass. She's a pastor's wife. I gave another to my very own pastor last week.

Won't you show appreciation for your pastor and/or his/her spouse by gifting him/her/them with something special from Old Lutheran? You know you want to. Go ahead. It'll be all right.

no one in our congregation has heard of it. and there isn't much time left, anyway! too bad for pastor. Pastor will have to wait for Christmas for all the goodies!
People think pastors are shepherds, but they are really more like sheep dogs.

We ordered the brand new wonderful Luther Rose Clings and passed them out on Reformation Sunday!! Some people asked for extras! A great way to do "brand indentification" in our town!

My pastor put his cling on his office door. I put one of them on a classroom window so you can see where my room is when you drive by (unarmed, if you don't mind). :D

I'm doing the Ref party for my kids today. All the kids in the school will be getting balloons and guitar picks, but my own students will share the rest of the loot from the party kits. In addition to the rock candy (it's cute; you should order some), we're having cider and a diet of (gummi and sour) worms. We'll play Reformation word Pictionary (as suggested in the helpful party hints folder), and I've put the Luther mask on a bulletin board (with sunglasses--the empty eye sockets are jarring) and we'll be adding thought balloons to it.

Are you going to wear the cool "Luther Rocks" t-shirt? one of the old guys in the church wore one on Sunday. It was great fun!

I'm wearing it now---with a skirt even. (Denim skirt--goes with everything.)

Update: The balloons are quite large when blown up all the way and they make a startling pop when overblown. Then again, don't we all.

The balloons were great! I put a bunch up at church. We held our first ever Reformation Education day, on Saturday the 27th. We had a bunch of movies to show and resources on Luther, the Theses, etc. We had Thorned Luther Rose tattoos to hand out to the kids as well (and I am wearing one too!). We didn't have very good attendance this year, but it was the first year.

Best thought balloon: "I'm on a mission from God."
