True & False pt. II

Some of the most interesting pieces of Luther's life come to us from a collection of stories that his students collected that they called Table Talk. In the collection, we find Luther talking about his views on theology, marriage, the pope and just about everything else in his life. Please take this chance to express your views about life, but please, try to keep the Luther-like vulgarity to a minimum.

False. I know better than to wish my life away. Time is fleeting enough as it is. But I would welcome some cooler temps.

The next person has kept up with weeding their garden this summer.

False- I've given up and decided to just grow weeds.

The next person has come to almost enjoy blackouts because it means no invasion of technology

False. We not only lose invasive technology such as tv and computer, but we also lose useful technology such as running water. I also have about 30 cubic feet of freezer space stuffed with enough foodstuffs to last us a month if we don't make it into town. I hate seeing that go into defrost mode.

The next person maintains a large cache of food in their house.

True! I have been laid up a few times and unable to drive, so I make sure I have plenty of staples, including dry milk (ick) and the stuff needed to make bread. Plenty of canned goods, of course, and a freezer full of frozen vegetables. And don't forget the raisins and prunes!

The next person keeps jugs of water ready, just in case.

False- I probably should, but water has a tendency to grow things if you leave it sit for too long, so I prefer to jug water only when a disaster is imminent.

The next person has eaten military rations (the dried/canned/preserved stuff they eat on the battlefield).

False. But I would try it if available. My nephew says it's not that bad.

The next person eats stuff with uncooked eggs in it.

False. But I have cut back from three a day to one a day since my cardiologist asked me to reduce my cholesterol.

The next person has no diet restrictions.

True. I started a Beekeeper's Quilt. It is made of small two-sided hexagons knit of fine-weight (sock) yarn which are stuffed with a bit of polyfill. When you have about 350 of them, you tie them together with bits of yarn. It takes good knitters a few years to make all the "hexapuffs," and even then, the blanket is not that big.

The next person's dream house has a pool.

False, Too much maintenance, unless it were long enough for some serious lap swimming.

The next person has a new event on their fall schedule this year.

False- the events have stayed the same, only the details have changed.

Yes and no. I just found out about another pastor friend who is moving for the second time since I've been here at the back of the north woods. It gets my foot itching a bit, but I have to keep reminding myself that after four moves in seven years prior to settling here 5 1/2 years ago, my family would much prefer that we stay put awhile longer.

The next person uses a wireless mouse.
