Guide To Writing a Faith Story

At the conclusion of your Confirmation year, you have the opportunity to share your faith story. Your life has been influenced by parents, family, friends, other adults, Sunday School classes, youth group experiences, etc. Take some time over the year to think about how these life experiences have affected your faith.

Your Statement of Faith Story should focus on your faith journey. Be sure to include:

Your experiences through the church with your family
Those who have been influential and encouraging during your faith journey
What your baptism means to you
Who Jesus is in your life
What Jesus' death and resurrection means for you
What Jesus' death and resurrection means for creation
How being a Christian makes a difference in how you live
The importance of Holy Communion in your everyday life
How important prayer is to you
How you see yourself serving Christ in your life

There is so much more you can share. As an individual, think about what is important for you to include. These papers will not be judged, but they will be discussed. Be honest and truthful. Include struggles you still have.

Your story should be no less than one page in length, single-spaced typed, using no larger than 12 point font.

Your paper is due at the time of your final interview and will be the focus for that interview with your teacher, parent(s) and yourself.
